About the Course

This course will teach you everything you need to know to operate HPLCs and/or GCs, develop methods and troubleshoot. 18 lectures on chromatography theory and applications accompany 12 hands-on labs.  You will disassemble, assemble and experiment with the dozens of HPLCs and GCs in our laboratory.  The course includes time for breaks, networking and other energy boosting activities.

By the end of this week, you will know more about chromatography than 85% of the professionals who do it for a living.

Key Topics:

  • HPLC and GC instrumentation
  • HPLC Theory & Method Development
  • GC Theory & Method Development
  • Troubleshooting

What You Will Learn

How to choose the correct parameters for any GC:

  • column length, diameter, film thickness, stationary phase
  • oven temperature, carrier gas, flow rates.

How to choose the correct parameters for any HPLC:

  • column length, particle size, stationary phase
  • mobile phase, buffers and detector

Who Should Attend

Beginners and intermediate-level HPLC and GC users who want practical laboratory experience.

No prior experience in advanced mathematics, theoretical chemistry, or physics is required for this course.

Some experience in HPLC or GC or introductory course work in organic chemistry is desirable but not necessary.
